Yann was recommended to us by another sponsor to represent Quandela at the EPFL Quantum hackathon. Within a few days, he mastered the specificities of our photonic quantum technology and onboarded himself on our MerLin discovery software for quantum machine learning. During the hackathon, Yann mentored 24 students around the clock, offering high-quality technical guidance on both the theoretical and applied aspects of the challenge and the implementation of quantum solutions. The feedback we received from the organisers and participants was excellent, and we look forward to collaborating with Yann again!
In Their Words
A few perspectives from partners and clients across education, research, and industry.
Yann's quantum computing teaching combines a mastery of the field and an exceptional pedagogy. He has created a learning environment in which students feel both intellectually stimulated and accompanied in their learning. His rigorously articulated lectures involve concrete examples, progressive demonstrations, and hands-on experimentation, all combined into a highly modern and enabling course. His commitment, availability and passion for the field have a direct impact on our students and the quality of our programme. He is a talented lecturer, whose contribution strengthens the excellence of our school.
I had the pleasure of working with Yann during the Q-volution Hackathon by Girls in Quantum. He stepped in as a judge for not just one, but two tracks, one sponsored by Rigetti Computing and the other by Infleqtion UK. The Rigetti track, in particular, needed extra care since it was an advanced-tier challenge, and Yann handled the evaluation process thoughtfully across all criteria (technical merit, creativity and novelty, presentation and documentation, and effective use of Rigetti QCS features). Even with a busy schedule at the QPFL hackathon, he showed up present and engaged. He was fair, easy to work with, and gave feedback that was clear and genuinely useful for participants. Yann works across quantum education, consulting, and research, helping people build practical quantum skills, and you could really see that in the way he engaged with each project!
I first met Yann at the GenQ hackathon in Geneva, where he served as a technical mentor. I was immediately struck by his profound knowledge of quantum computing and his ability to help participants translate complex theoretical ideas into high-impact code. This led me to invite him as a lead mentor for the Qiskit Fall Fest 2025 at Paris-Saclay. His sharp technical judgment and professionalism were instrumental in streamlining the judging process. I look forward to collaborating with him again on future events.
Our FantastiQ5 team still talks about how Yann lead us to 1st place at the first GenQ Quantum Hackathon in Calgary. His mentorship on cat qubits and QUBO optimization was game-changing, clear, practical, and inspiring. Couldn’t have done it without him. Thanks again!
